Denim overalls have been a part of my wardrobe my whole life. A staple of my toddler closet (OshKosh B’gosh anyone?!), they were again popular when I was in middle school, with a baggy 90s vibe.
Today they everywhere and in many iterations, all of which feel very modern. There is nothing work-a-day or utilitarian about these overalls. Many are form fitting (and dare I say sexy) with either a skinny leg or a flare, some bell bottoms, some in the of-the-moment crop. The baggy version still abounds, but they tend towards the relaxed mom or boyfriend jean trend as opposed to just over-sized and shapeless.
One of the things I love most about overalls is that they are perfect to wear during the transitional seasons. One day you can put a sweater or a turtleneck under them and the next you can be wearing a t-shirt or crop top – both looks are equally stylish, but I think the overalls are a little more interesting than standard jeans. I’ve rounded up a few of my favorites below, including the new-season version of the Madewell ones I’m wearing in these pictures. If you haven’t added overalls to your wardrobe just yet, now is the time!
